Hey There! It’s Me!
First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by and for giving me your time so that we can know each other better. Do you know why I say that? Because I have learnt that time is the most important thing that one can give anybody. It is like giving a part of yourself and I am so glad that you decided to give me a few minutes from your busy schedule.
My name is Sherley Altidor. I live in New Jersey with my husband and two kids. However, I wasn’t born in this country. My place of birth is Haiti, which naturally makes Creole my first language. When I was 17, I joined the US Army Reserve and did eight years there. While in the Reserve, I got my Real Estates license. Yes, I am a licensed realtor in the state of New Jersey and a very passionate one at that.
I worked in the Health industry as well. However, that was not a job that was close to my heart or something that I would like to do again. Well, of course I did not ‘hate’ my job, but you know there is a difference between doing something you love and just going to work. Moreover, it was just a ‘job.’ I was looking for a ‘career.’
Luckily, I did not have to wait for long. I have always been blessed in finding jobs and cracking interviews. Inspired by my past record and fueled by my ambition, I applied for the Flight Attendant position with a major airline. This was in September 2012. It was just a little more than a month since I sent in the application that I received a call for an interview that was scheduled in December. I went prepared, ready to take the next big leap. Here was my chance of a ‘flying’ career, quite literally, and I did everything I could to make it happen.
Guess what, I DID NOT get the job.
This time, I wasn’t that lucky after all. However, instead of dampening my spirits, the apparent failure burnt my passion even more. I had to fly and would settle for nothing less. The same day I got my ‘rejection’ intimation, I applied for the same position with the US Airways. My application was accepted and I had to go through three rounds of rigorous interviews. However, it was worth the effort and on January 8, 2013, I got the job. The word ‘excitement’ doesn’t even start describing what I feel about my job. In fact, I don’t go to work. I wake up to live my dreams.
Maybe you are wondering, why I am even bothering to write a post about myself, my career, and my dreams. Isn’t this a blog about natural beauty tips and tricks? Yes, you are right. However, I do feel that Femme Naturelle is more than just a blog. It is a community, at least, that is how I visualize it to be. And to be a community, it is so important that we get to know each other.
Tell me a bit about yourself. About your likes, dislikes, passions, ambitions. Tell me what you would like to read here. What question you would like to discuss. In case you are wondering why I started this blog, you can read it here.
Bye for now. Talk to you soon.
